This may seem like a strange thing to reblog here on the sacred things blog, but I cried when she said that in the movie. Surprise, spontaneous tears. Queer people shouldn’t have to hide. Atheists shouldn’t have to hide. Jews shouldn’t have to hide. Muslims shouldn’t have to hide. Christians shouldn’t have to hide. No one of any ethnicity, race, or culture should have to hide or assimilate in order to be respected.
Comics are often derided, but the genre grew out of the intersection of oppression and hope and there’s a lot of important stuff there if you listen.
